There is no application fee for this recruitment process.

Candidates should apply only through the prescribed online application process available through the official IOB recruitment page.

Age Limit as on 01 August 2026:

The maximum age limit of 45 years specified for Ex-Servicemen is applicable uniformly to candidates of all categories, including reserved categories.

The vacancies are currently identified for Chennai. However, Indian Overseas Bank reserves the right to post selected candidates anywhere in Tamil Nadu.

The number of vacancies is provisional and may be increased, decreased, or left unfilled depending upon the actual requirements of the Bank.

The post is not identified for reservation under the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category. Disabled Ex-Servicemen are also not eligible for this recruitment.

The recruitment is specifically meant for eligible Ex-Servicemen / Ex-Agniveers from the Army, Navy or Air Force.

• Candidate must be an eligible Ex-Serviceman or Ex-Agniveer from the Army, Navy or Air Force.
• Candidate should have passed 10th Standard / Matriculation or equivalent examination.
• Candidate must not have passed Graduation or an equivalent examination.
• Candidate should be able to speak, read and write Tamil.
• The character at the time of valid discharge from the Armed Forces should be “EXEMPLARY”.
• The prescribed medical standard at the time of valid discharge should be minimum SHAPE-1 or AYE, whichever is applicable.

Ex-Servicemen who do not possess the specified civil educational qualification may be eligible if they possess the prescribed Armed Forces education certificate and satisfy the service requirement mentioned in the notification.

Selected candidates will be placed in the Subordinate Staff Cadre pay scale according to the 12th Bipartite Settlement.

Basic pay will be fixed based on the last drawn salary during defence service, subject to the applicable rules. Other admissible emoluments will be payable according to the industry-wide Bipartite Settlement and Bank policies.

The major duties of a Security Guard include:

• Guarding Bank premises and departments for safety and security.
• Protecting Bank property against unauthorized removal or other security threats.
• Watching the movement of Bank property inside or outside the premises.
• Operating security equipment such as electronic alarm systems, CCTV systems and access-control systems.
• Operating X-Ray machines, Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMD) and Handheld Metal Detectors (HHMD), wherever required.
• Maintenance and operation of fire alarm systems and fire-fighting equipment.
• Performing duties in shifts, including night shifts.
• Performing other routine duties of the Subordinate Staff Cadre as required by the Bank Management.

The selection process consists of the following stages:

1. Online Objective Type Test
2. Local Language Test – Tamil
3. Physical Fitness Test
4. Medical Fitness Examination
5. Document Verification

The Online Objective Test carries a maximum of 80 marks.

The separate Tamil Local Language Test carries a maximum of 20 marks.

Candidates qualifying the Online Test and Tamil Language Test and satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions will be called for the Physical Fitness Test.

Candidates must obtain the prescribed minimum qualifying marks in each individual physical test. Simply achieving the overall qualifying total is not sufficient if a candidate fails any individual test.

The Physical Fitness Test will be conducted at Chennai.

Candidates get only one attempt in each Physical Fitness Test. No repeat attempt will be permitted under the conditions specified by the Bank.

Performance below the minimum prescribed level in an individual physical test results in failure of that test.

Before undertaking the Physical Fitness Test, eligible candidates are required to undergo a medical fitness examination.

Candidates must submit a medical fitness certificate from a medical practitioner with a valid registration number and not below the rank of Civil Assistant Surgeon.

The medical fitness certificate should not be older than 15 days on the date of the Physical Fitness Test.

The Physical Fitness Test and related medical requirements will be conducted according to the conditions prescribed by Indian Overseas Bank.

Final selection will be made through a reservation-wise merit list.

The merit list is prepared by adding marks obtained in:

1. Online Objective Type Test
2. Local Language Test – Tamil
3. Physical Fitness Test

Merely satisfying the basic eligibility criteria does not guarantee that a candidate will be called for the Online Test or Physical Fitness Test.

The Bank will publish the results of candidates qualifying various stages and the final selected candidate list on the official IOB website.

Candidates called for the Physical Fitness Test must produce the required original documents along with self-attested photocopies.

Candidates should ensure that the details in their certificates match the details entered in the online application.

Indian Overseas Bank will arrange Pre-Examination Training at Chennai for eligible applicants belonging to SC, ST, Minority Communities and Ex-Servicemen who opt for the training in the online application.

The training will be provided free of cost. However, travelling, boarding, lodging and other personal expenses have to be borne by the candidate.

The dates and other details of the Pre-Examination Training will be communicated separately by the Bank.

5. Complete the online registration using your personal mobile number and valid email ID.
6. Note down the Registration Number and Password received after successful registration.
7. Upload the required photograph and signature in the prescribed format.
8. Upload the Left Thumb Impression and Handwritten Declaration as required.
9. Capture the required live photograph in the application portal.
10. Fill all personal, educational, service and other details carefully.
11. Select the relevant options for Pre-Examination Training, wherever applicable.
12. Submit the application after checking all information carefully.
13. Take a printout of the submitted application form and keep it safely for future reference.

No other mode of application will be accepted. Applications must be submitted online through the prescribed IOB recruitment process.
